If you were to visit West Meadows village near Moravian Falls, North Carolina (which we advise you do) you would see this gem of a log home the very first thing as you enter the village. Located on Lot 1 with a bright red roof, it was the second Amish log home we built there. Many more have been built there and in the region.
When you are visiting Wilkesboro, North Carolina, you can see the old Meadowlark Landing building 1 mile west of Wilkesboro on Hwy. 42, on the left, or south side of the highway. You will see a long Meadowlark log porch along the front of what was formerly a warehouse. Meadowlark provided the logwork to restore this building to an emporium, which operated for about four years, selling local crafts and featured nearly 100 stores during its peak, and a family restaurant with southern cooking and weekly live bluegrass music. Amish hickory rockers and other Amish furniture was also sold here. The name of the place was Meadowlark Landing, and the store was Meadowlark Emporium. Today, it is used as office space for a company.
Another interesting thing about the Meadowlark Landing is the Ricky Skaggs Music Porch, constructed by Meadowlark Log Homes, and used as a pavilion where bluegrass music was played on summer evenings. It is a large open roof set on Meadowlark's signature Amish log post/ beam system. The former owner of Meadowlark Landing is Neil Blake, who is close friends with the well known gospel bluegrass singer, Ricky Skaggs.
